Holstons Hand Farriers Their First Loss

Carnton Plantation, Franklin – Ladies and Gentlemen, this is what base ball is about. Two undefeated teams, ranked 1st and 2nd in the league, faced off in a beauty of a match. It was a well-played and hard-fought game, but the visiting Knoxville squad owned the day and beat your home team 10-6. The Holstons remain undefeated.

“Sparky” Andress

The Farriers can be proud of the fact that they scored as many runs as they did against the Holston’s stellar defense, while also limiting their opponents to 10 runs. The Holstons struck fast with a run in the 1st and 5 runs in the 2nd. The Farriers scored all their runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innings.

Greg “Sparky” Andress, trying on a new nickname, broke out of his slump by hitting half of the Farriers runs batted in, going 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. We haven’t heard the last of Sparky. The Farriers went through their lineup 3 times and each Farrier had 3 at-bats.
The noon-time game was the first of a double header. The Cumberlanders lost to the Travellers in the afternoon match.
